Hello FY2026 – A message from our CEO

Each year, when I sit down to write this message, I find myself thinking about the people behind the work — the business owners pursuing their goals, the families planning for their future, the clients who place their trust in us every day and the incredible team members at MJC who make it all happen.

While accounting is often associated with tax returns, financial statements and deadlines, the most rewarding part of what we do has always been the relationships we build and the trust you place in us.

This year marked our first full year following the merger of Deanne Thomas & Co with MJC. To those of you who joined us as clients through the merger, thank you for the warm welcome and for placing your trust in MJC. It has been wonderful getting to know so many of you, and we look forward to continuing to build those relationships in the years ahead. Deanne remains an important part of our firm, and the relationships, personal service and genuine care that have always been central to Deanne Thomas & Co remain equally important to us.

We have also continued to look at how and where we provide support to you. In addition to our Dandenong and St Kilda Road locations, we now have further opportunities to meet with clients across the Frankston and Mornington Peninsula area.

Technology has made it possible for us to work together from almost anywhere, but we also understand that sometimes there is simply no substitute for sitting down together and having a conversation face to face.

While the past year has been one of growth and change, it has also been a year in which we have continued to invest in our people.

This year, I am extremely proud to announce the promotions of Tom Roleff and Josh Simmons to Associates.

The role of Associate is the most senior accounting position within MJC outside of our partnership group and reflects not only technical excellence, but also leadership, strong client relationships and a significant commitment to the future of the firm. It also recognises Tom and Josh as current leaders within MJC and potential future partners of the firm.

Tom and Josh, your promotions are thoroughly deserved, and I look forward to watching you continue to develop as leaders within MJC.

I would also like to congratulate Sean Chin on his well-earned promotion to Senior Accountant. Since joining MJC almost five years ago, Sean has become a highly valued member of our team and I look forward to seeing his continued growth and success in the years ahead.

This year also marks the beginning of an important transition within MJC Bookkeeping Solutions.

After an incredible 37 years as part of the MJC family, Jenny Woodlock will retire at the end of September 2026.

Jenny has been an integral part of MJC for almost four decades and her contribution to our firm is difficult to overstate. While many of you will know Jenny through MJC Bookkeeping Solutions, where she has led the business since 2006, her impact extends far beyond bookkeeping. Her leadership, dedication, care for clients and commitment to our team have helped shape the culture and values that make MJC what it is today.

While Jenny will be with us for a little longer, she has worked incredibly hard to ensure that MJC Bookkeeping is left in exceptionally capable hands.

I am therefore delighted to announce the appointment of Roxanne Conroy as Practice Manager of MJC Bookkeeping Solutions.

After 15 outstanding years with the business, Roxanne has developed extensive experience across every aspect of bookkeeping and client service. Over the past 12 months, she has worked closely alongside Jenny to ensure a seamless transition and to equip herself with everything needed to continue the incredible legacy Jenny has built.

Supporting Roxanne in the leadership of the business will be Deb Nuske, who has been appointed Client Services Manager.

During her five years with MJC Bookkeeping, Deb has proven herself to be an invaluable member of the team. Her technical expertise, commitment to continuous improvement and passion for delivering outstanding client outcomes make her the ideal person to lead client services while supporting Roxanne as the business continues to grow.

Jenny, thank you for your extraordinary contribution to MJC over the past 37 years and congratulations also to Roxanne and Deb. I have every confidence that the future of MJC Bookkeeping is in exceptional hands.

The care you show our clients, the way you support one another and your willingness to continually learn and improve are the foundations on which our firm is built. Our profession continues to change rapidly, with new technology, increasing regulation and growing complexity. Through all of that change, you have remained committed to technical excellence while never losing sight of the people behind the work.

That balance matters deeply to me, because it is the difference between simply completing work and genuinely helping people.

Looking ahead, one of our major focuses will be helping clients navigate what is shaping up to be a significant period of tax, regulatory and economic change.

These changes will create both challenges and opportunities for businesses and individuals alike. As always, there will be no one-size-fits-all solution. Every client, family and business is different, and our role is to understand your circumstances, provide practical advice tailored to your needs and help you make informed decisions with confidence.

As MJC continues to grow, maintaining personal service and strong relationships with you will remain at the center of everything we do.
